There are two major ways on how to quit smoking. These include the use of products and the natural methods of quitting.
First, you can quit smoking through the use of certain commercial products. These items have been designed to eliminate the physically discomforting effects that you will experience as you carry out the cessation process. For instance, antidepressant drugs such as Zyban stimulate a chemical reaction in the brain which makes the user less inclined to smoke. These drugs are normally taken before the actual quitting date in order for them to have immediate results. Furthermore, nicotine-based treatments such as patches, gum, inhalers, and nasal sprays enable the user to adapt to the withdrawal symptoms that may shock the body by releasing a small amount of the said substance into the bloodstream. These items are usually applied on the quitting date.
Second, aside from these treatments, there are also natural ways on how to quit smoking. If you have had the habit for many years, the gradual reduction method can be a good option for you. This involves a steady decrease in the number of cigarettes you take per day. Start by taking two or three sticks off from your daily habit and working your way until you are down to less than five. By this time, your body would have adjusted to the absence of nicotine and you would find it relatively easy to quit completely. Another natural cessation method is the cold turkey technique. Basically, what you would do in this case is to select a date wherein you will entirely refrain from smoking and continue abstaining for as long as possible. No preparation or slow deduction is involved. This may be a suitable technique for you if you have been smoking for only a couple of months.
