Cigarette Addiction.
Cigarette addiction is one of the most common forms of dependency among adults. It negatively affects every aspect of the life of a smoker, nevertheless, there are things which he can do to save himself from the addiction.
First of all, the immediate effects of cigarette addiction are respiratory problems. When a person smokes excessively, his lungs and other respiratory organs become damaged. As a result, he will find it hard to breathe normally and experience constant fatigue. Next, his social life will be adversely affected. He is going to lose interest in work or in school and prefer to just indulge in his habit. Aside from these illnesses, he may develop cancer of the lungs, throat, or mouth from the numerous carcinogenic materials in cigarettes. Ultimately, each of these major health problems can result to the individual facing an early death.
Therefore, a smoker needs to quit right away once he has confirmed that he is addicted to cigarettes. Overcoming this type of dependency can be done through a number of techniques. For example, he can try to gradually reduce his daily amount of smokes. The primary advantage of doing so is that it will cause little shock to his body. With regard to its steps, he can start by deducting 20 percent of his total number of cigarettes taken per day. He can then proceed in increasing the reduction after a few days and repeat the procedure until he is smoking only one or two sticks. |
